About Hygeia

The Hygeia was originally a 300ft. steel paddle steamer built in Glasgow in 1890 to 1931, till she finally came to rest in the "Shipas graveyard".

The memory of the fine spirit became the inspiration or the rebirth of the Hygeia.

Constructed in Queenscliff in 1963, this 65ft. passenger ferry continued the tradition by operating regular summer services between Sorrento, Portsea and Queenscliff, providing its 145 daytrippers with many enjoyable holiday adventures.

This luxury vessel has been refitted with the comforts of today and the charm of yesteryear and cruises the Port Phillip Bay. The Hygeia has now become an integral part of Geelong, cruising Corio Bay daily.
